Virtual Experiments (VE) - University of Derby, Final Report
The objective of the VE project is to develop a virtual experiment for the module PEA module. The experiment being considered for virtualising is the Trigger switching circuit for the buck converter for a solar model car. To this end two training sessions were organised by the virtual resources development officer, Paolo Memoli, 29 February and 25 April respectively. The author could not attend the 29 February session due to prior engagements. Mr Memoli, did visit the University of Derby for a presentation on the Virtual Experiments on 26 March. Subsequently, the author attended the training session at Southampton on 25 April 2012. The hardware implementation of the Trigger Switching circuit is completed together with necessary documentation and photographs. With the late acquirement of the software, the image processing for web development is just started using Abode Creative suite which will be completed by the end of July 2012. As students are away for summer term, the author could only trial the project on two students. The author will introduce the VE project as an on line learning scheme for the PEA assessment for the solar model car assessment for the 2012/13 AY.
