Practice Transfer Adopters: Mathematical Modelling and Problem Solving - Swansea
The primary aim of this project is to develop a dedicated mathematical modelling module as part of the undergraduate mathematics curriculum at Swansea University. This new module will be based on the application of pure mathematics and mathematical thinking to solving real world problems. There will be a focus on problem solving, the use of computers and also the development of technical writing skills. This project is part of the Practice Transfer Adopters (PTA) scheme and began in January 2012. As such, the project is still in its early stages of development and the module will run for the first time in the academic year 2012-13. Ideas for the models to be studied and approaches to teaching will be adopted from the previous examples of good practice.
