Strategic regional working with schools and colleges

First Campus (www.firstcampus.organd www.handsonscience.org.uk), the South East Wales Reaching Wider partnership, will lead the Practice Transfer Partnership (PTP), focusing on effective working with traditionally under-represented groups of learners to widen access to HE STEM.

The Partnership

The five HEIs that make up the First Campus partnership (University of Glamorgan, Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, University of Wales Newport and the Open University in Wales) have eight years of experience and good practice delivering events in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering and Mathematics disciplines.

The Conference

First Campus will recruit partners through a launch Conference and once partners are engaged communication will be via online resources, telephone, email and face to face meetings.

First Campus will provide frameworks for events that have been delivered successfully, giving partners guidance and support for managing resources, budgets, booking facilities, etc.  This comprehensive guidance will allow participants to roll out tried and tested delivery methods in their own institutions.  First Campus will also invite PTP partners to events.

Through the PTP project, we will be able to offer funding alongside support and guidance, enabling partners to deliver the events themselves, and to work effectively with schools and colleges.
