Abstract
The Take Home Challenge competition has been run successfully for many years by Mathematical Education on Merseyside (MEM). The challenge consists of a range of questions for pupils to complete over February half term and there is a junior and a senior challenge, both aimed at secondary level. Winners of the competition are invited to a celebration evening at the HEI with lots of enrichment activities for parents and pupils to enjoy. The questions particularly encourage pupils to think in a creative way and are accessible to most able pupils.
Project Aims

To enthuse pupils and parents regarding mathematics and encourage pupils to consider studying STEM subjects into higher education.

Project Objectives

To run a trial challenge competition (and/or senior challenge competititon).  To run a celebration evening for parents and pupils.   To evaluate whether this competition can be made into an annual activity.

Project Outputs

A trial challenge competition and celebration evening.

Project Outcomes

The intended outcome is to have a group of young people and their parents who are more enthusiastic about mathematics.  By hosting the celebration evening at a HEI, another intended outcome is for pupils to be more positive about studying STEM subjects to degree level.
